Is nicotine withdrawal similar to withdrawal from illegal drugs?

Is Nicotine withdrawal similar to withdrawal from illegal drugs?
We all know that nicotine is an addictive substance and that many people in our state suffer from this form of addiction, but do people with nicotine withdrawal suffer the same symptoms as withdrawal from other drugs (meth, cocaine, pills)? According to netdoctor.co, nicotine affects every part of the nervous system, including the pleasure center of the brain. It alters mood and state of mind to a certain degree. Since nicotine is addictive, the user becomes dependent on the drug, and once they develop a tolerance for it, their needs become more intense.
Some nicotine withdrawal symptoms include: irritation, anger, increased appetite, weight gain, depression, tiredness, insomnia and anxiety. This is similar, but seemingly less serious than withdrawal from other drugs. most illegal drug withdrawal includes serious forms of depression and suicidal thoughts. So although they do have withdrawal similarities, it seems as though nicotine withdrawal is significantly less serious than “harder” drugs.
