What are some of the signs you have been slipped the “date rape” drug, rohypnol?

In class on Wednesday, we learned the importance of knowing what is in your drink, who is making your drink and most importantly watching them make your drink. Rphypnol is considered to be a “date rape” drug and is commonly referred to as a “roofie.” This drug is sometimes “used to assist a sexual assault.” The effects of the date rape drug depend on the actual drug and how much of it you take. For roofies, it usually can be “felt within 30 minutes of being drugged and can last for several hours.” You could appear to be drunk when being affected by a roofie because it contains a lot of the same characteristics. For example, you might have trouble standing, slurred speech and you may even pass out. This is why it is so important to keep up with how much alcohol you drink, so you can know if you are just being affected by the alcohol, or it you have been slipped a drug. Rohypnol can cause several problems including: muscle relation or loss of muscle control, difficulty with motor movements, confusion, death, etc.  In order to avoid these problems, you need to be cautious of who are drinking with and what you are drinking.
