What are the signs and symptoms of someone addicted to methamphetamine?


            Methamphetamine is a highly addictive stimulant that can be smoked, injected, inhaled, or taken by mouth. It is a white odorless, bitter-tasting crystalline powder that easily dissolves in water or alcohol. More potent than other drug and has longer lasting harmful effects on the central nervous system.
Some of the symptoms include:
·      Increased attention and decreased fatigue
·      Increased activity/wakefulness
·      Increased talkativeness
·      Decreased appetite
·      Euphoria
·      Increase respiration
·      Rapid/irregular heartbeat
·      Hyperthermia
            There are also warning signs in the physical appearance of someone addicted to meth. Key clues are skin picking, skin crawling, tooth decay, and hair loss.
What are some long-term effects of methamphetamine abuse?
·      Addiction
·      Psychosis- paranoia, hallucinations
·      Repetitive motor activity
·      Changes in brain structure and function
·      Memory loss
·      Aggressive or violent behavior
·      Mood disturbances
·      Severe dental problems
·      Weight loss
            Addiction to methamphetamine is a dangerous thing. It effects the brain by releasing high levels of dopamine. It can cause harmful effects on nerve terminals in the brain. These signs and symptoms are serious, and give you information on what to look for.
