I was watching a news report last week about a high school in northern KY having a major drug trafficking problem. In an interview with one of the faculty she said, "It's out of control. I remember stuff like this happening when I was in school, but kids today have become more crafty about distributing drugs in the school. I don't know what to do, but someone needs to think of something to manage this problem."
With that being said, I wanted to search ways in which kids have been getting these drugs in and how crafty they truly have become. Here were a few ways I found and some I had never heard of:
- Hidden in lead pencils
- Bringing their lunch to school and hidden within packaging
- Some kids who brought Gatorade or water would mix small amounts of clear alcohol within the drink
- Behind their cell phone covers
- In battery pack of calculators
- And the list goes on
Some of these methods are truly outrageous and I believe teachers would have to be blind not to catch them and other times kids just deal right out of their car after class. It has become an epidemic that needs some sort of universal solution because we cannot be okay with these things being brought into a place where kids are expected to be safe.
