Medical marijuana was used for many centuries, because it s
a natural treatment. The pot probation law was put in place in 1937, therefore
ending any type of use of marijuana. Since then, there have been many instances
of doctors practicing medical marijuana still and they have discovered it helps
many different types of diseases or illnesses. I selected one of the conditions
to focus on more for writing this entry. I selected Cancer as my condition to
focus on. Current research shows
that cannabinoids fight cancer cells by arresting cancer cells in your body. It
has also been discovered that cannabinoids exhibit anti tumor properties. (Jan,
October 27, 13). The DEA classifies cannabis as having no medicinal use; also
the Supreme Court ruled in 2005 that patients whom are using medical marijuana
could be prosecuted for using marijuana, but only in federal court. The
benefits of using marijuana for medial purpose are: increased appetite,
reduction of pain, wasting, vomiting and nausea, and depression. Although it
doesn’t completely cure you from cancer, it makes your battle easier.
In
my personal opinion I believe that if you are sick and dying, you should be
able to do whatever it takes to stay alive or at least feel better. I think the
use of medical marijuana is a good thing. The stories I’ve read while
researching this topic have all been supportive of the use.
